Two-Kilometre Pebble Beach with Gradual Shallow Waters in Igalo

Igalo Beach runs along the seafront west of Herceg Novi Old Town, fronting the Institute Dr Simo Milošević spa complex and the Igalo promenade. The beach extends for roughly two kilometres from the Institute at the eastern end to the small inlet near Njivice, giving it the longest continuous managed stretch in the Herceg Novi municipality. The surface is a mix of coarse gravel, fine pebble and patches of sand accumulation, softer underfoot than the rockier stretches directly below the Old Town. The water deepens gradually, which makes it one of the more suitable beaches in the bay for small children and for less confident swimmers.

The sheltered position inside the Bay of Kotor means almost no surf: sea conditions stay flat in all but the most severe south-westerly winds. Lounger and umbrella rental operates along most of the beach in summer, with pricing typically around €10 to €15 per set. Several sections of the beach remain free of concessions. A paved promenade runs the full length behind the beach, lined with cafés, ice-cream kiosks and a handful of small hotels.

The Institute Dr Simo Milošević, operating since 1949, draws patients from across Europe for treatments using the bay's therapeutic peloid (mineral mud) extracted from the seabed just offshore. The mud is collected, cured and applied in supervised treatment programmes at the Institute. Visitors can book day-use sessions separately from multi-day medical stays. The beach is accessible year-round on foot from Herceg Novi Old Town along the coastal path, roughly a 40-minute walk, or by local bus from the main bus station.
