The grain underfoot is properly sandy rather than the granite shingle of neighbouring stretches, and the seabed keeps that texture for several metres before the bottom drops into clearer Adriatic depths.

Gradual shelving makes the pocket workable for toddlers and weaker swimmers; parents tend to claim the central scoop while teens push toward the bulkhead ledges for jumping. Shade comes from a row of plane trees and palmettos behind the railing, with a pair of kiosks selling Algida cones, slushies and bottled water through the warmer months. The harbour and the western promenade beaches are reachable on foot along the coastal path.
