Sandy Family Beach with Pine Shade on Luštica Peninsula
Plavi Horizonti (Blue Horizons) is one of the very few genuinely sandy beaches on the Montenegrin coastline. Most coastal beaches in this region are pebble. The beach sits on the eastern side of the Lustica peninsula, inside a sheltered bay facing the Tivat shoreline. Its fine pale sand extends roughly 300 metres in a shallow curve, backed by a grove of mature pine trees that reach almost to the waterline.
The water deepens gently, staying below chest height for 20 to 30 metres out from the shore. The combination of sandy bottom, shallow water and the sheltered bay position makes Plavi Horizonti the preferred family beach on this side of the peninsula. Sea temperatures track the inner Bay of Kotor, running warm from late May through early October. The pine grove directly behind the beach provides natural shade, which most regulars prefer to lounger hire.
A small car park serves the beach alongside a single seasonal beach bar and a couple of food stands selling grilled corn and cold drinks in July and August. There are no large resort buildings along this stretch. Access is by car from Herceg Novi via the Kamenari ferry to Lepetane and then the road across Lustica. About 50 minutes in total.
By boat, it is possible to arrive via tour operators running the full Lustica circuit from Herceg Novi marina, though most tours prioritise Žanjic and the Blue Grotto on the western side.
