Quiet Pebble Cove Below Savina Monastery in Savina

Savina Beach sits directly below the wooded slope that holds the Savina Monastery, roughly 1.5 kilometres east of Herceg Novi Old Town along the coastal path. It is smaller and considerably quieter than Igalo's long beachfront: a single curve of pebble shoreline running about 200 metres between rock outcrops at either end. Locals use it year-round for quick swims and winter dips; visitor numbers pick up from late June through August but never reach the density of the Igalo or Topla strips.

The water drops off more sharply here than at Igalo, with depths reaching two to three metres within a short distance of the shore. Underwater visibility is reliably good thanks to the limited silt runoff into this pocket of the bay. A concrete sea wall divides the pebble from the coastal promenade. Two or three small beach bars operate seasonally at the back of the beach, serving coffee, cold drinks and light snacks.

Lounger hire is limited. Most visitors bring their own towels. The Savina Monastery complex above the beach holds three Orthodox churches arranged in a cypress-shaded courtyard. The smaller Little Church dates to the 11th century; the main Great Church was completed in 1799 and contains a museum of icons and liturgical objects.

A stone path links the beach to the monastery gate in about 10 minutes on foot.
